Happy Thanksgiving from the Bayou

After a brief stop in MS, we went to New Orleans to visit my mom & stepdad for Thanksgiving and go the the Bayou Classic football game between Southern and Grambling. Braylon had a good time seeing his grandparents and listening to the bands at the game. The game didn't keep his attention very long though as he slept through the first half:-)

Halloween Fun

Braylon celebrated Halloween with the usual candy gathering activities and costumes. But he also got a chance to carve his own pumpkin at his Godparent's house. He had a good time and really seemed to enjoy "creating" his own pumpkin.

End of Soccer Season

Well, we just finished our first season of soccer. Braylon seemed to enjoy himself. We didn't play as many games as scheduled because of the weather but I think the final number was good for him. Just as he was getting burned out the season was over. He actually scored a couple of goals this year so he was excited about that. The coaches enjoyed having him on the team and wanted to make sure we brought him back for next year.

First Soccer Game

Braylon finally had his first game this past weekend. He was excited. He got a little discouraged because he didn't score a goal. It was obvious that Braylon is a beginner and the other kids have had some experience with the game. But we have a two month season and I'm sure he'll get more comfortable playing with the bigger/faster kids. Our aim next week is for him to keep his focus while he's on the field. We had moments of him wanting to do his own thing while the action was going on the other side of the field.

Enjoy the pics...

Happy Birthday Braylon!!!

Braylon enjoyed his 4th birthday on August 1st. He had a small birthday party at daycare. I think the other kids had more fun than he did. He was just happy to see his grandmother at his school and was busy showing her around. But the other kids seems to enjoy it.

My mom and stepdad came through to visit us on this special weekend. He really got a kick out of seeing them. He played with my mom for hours. We actually felt bad and asked Braylon to give Grandma a break. But she got a kick out of spending some time with him since they don't see each other that often. I'm sure she "rested" all the way home to Shreveport though. He did better than I thought we they left (no crying). I guess he's growing up.

Soccer Tryouts

Braylon had his first attempt at soccer this week. They had "tryouts" for the 3 year old Upward Bound soccer league. He did a good job considering he has never really played soccer before. He was more interested in running around the field then going through each of the drills. While there were kids there that have obviously been playing soccer longer, Braylon did a good job of holding his own. The season starts in a few weeks so we'll keep everyone posted.

Kingpin

Braylon participated in a bowling class/league this summer. He really seemed to enjoy it; a least for the first frame or so. Then he was more interested in the pizza and cake after each game. But the teachers were impressed with him being the youngest and staying focused for as long as he did. He even earned a trophy at the awards ceremony.

Southern Snow

I have a ton of pictures since I procrastinated so long to get this blog started. Therefore, I'm adding a few photos from the snow we had during March earlier this year. This was Braylon's first real experience with seeing snow and playing in it. He was complaining the snow was getting in his shoes so we had to go inside from time to time. He also tried to lick snow off of a stick (thought it was a snow cone maybe?) with not so desirable consequences. But I guess that's what 3 year olds do. Anyway, enjoy the pics...

Braylon's Swimming Lessons

Braylon started swimming lessons this summer. The lesssons consisted of six classes so I we didn't expect him to be an expert at the end. But he did get used to the water. The only thing was he never learned to close his mouth or hold his breath when they put his head under. So we had a lot of lessons with him crying for a few minutes. But the instructors did a good job of calming him down. By the end of the 6 weeks he was having a good time.
